H2S IN LANDFILL GAS

April 2009

Hydrogen sulphide can be as deadly to expensive engine sets as it can be to human beings. Invariably present, it is important to monitor this corrosive gas to prevent costly damage.

Hitech Instruments, one of the leaders in fixed landfill gas monitors, have now introduced a hydrogen sulphide sensor option to their successful range of one, two and three gas analysers. The versatile sensor has a range of 0 – 5000ppm for the worst biogas applications and a sensitivity suitable for the 100ppm levels often found in landfill gas.

The GIR5000 is the ‘flagship’ three gas analyser measuring a choice of methane, oxygen, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide. Hitech design and manufacture according to customers applications and other sensors will be available on demand. Alternatively if fewer parameters are required then two gas versions are available and there is a wide variety of single parameter instruments.

Committed to innovation and responsive to market requirements, Hitech were the first company to introduce a purpose designed, fixed analyser that is Zone 2 ATEX compliant. The GIR range requires no consumables and the maintenance requirement is very low. Occasional checks will determine if calibration is necessary.

Hitech realise that the analysis is only as good as the sample presented to the sensors. Sample conditioning systems, flow alarms and pumps are all optional accessories depending on the application. Wet, dirty and variable flow samples can all be catered for.
