Hydrogen Purity and Purging in Turbogenerators
February 2008
Even small changes in hydrogen purity can affect the efficiency of turbogenerators significantly. For maintenance, the system needs to be purged carefully and efficiently to avoid the risk of explosive gas mixtures of hydrogen and air. The alternator purge gas monitors from Hitech are ideal for this application.
Hitech Instruments, the UK gas analyser specialists, manufacture a range of instruments to monitor both hydrogen purity and gases at all stages of the alternator purge process. Each instrument has three different ranges to measure hydrogen purity, hydrogen in air and carbon dioxide in air.
The rugged, portable unit is supplied complete in an IP67 rated case. The rechargeable battery provides over 6 hours of continuous operation or mains supply can be used. The integral pump, flowmeter and needle valve make the unit simple and ready to use straightaway. Hitech are pleased to demonstrate the instrument on site, personally in the UK and internationally via their distributor network.
For continuous measurement a single panel mount enclosure version is provided. The panel and remote sensor assembly are supplied with zener barrier for use in hazardous areas. Sample systems can be supplied if filtering is required and/or to make calibration easier with a switchable valve.
Hitech Instruments have been specialising in gas analysers for over 25 years and take great pride in the level of technical support they provide. New distributor enquiries are always welcomed.
